Privacy Policy

Delulu Bestie ("the app") is made by Sayakaya B.V. ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

The short version

• Delulu Bestie works without an account.
• Everything you write or choose in the app is stored only on your phone.
• If you use the AI features of Bestie Plus, the words you type for that one reply are sent to our server & to Anthropic to write it. They are not stored.
• We don't sell your data, show ads or track you across other apps.
• If you subscribe to Bestie Plus, Apple or Google process the payment & RevenueCat confirms it.

What stays on your phone

The app stores the following on your device only: your name & optional email (if you type them), profile photo, moods & check-ins, journal entries, manifestations & wishes, saved lines, settings, daily usage counts for free limits, & a record of which Time Travel journeys you have taken. The words you type into the Time Travel "What would you like this journey to be about?" box are used for that journey only & are not saved.

We cannot see this information. You can export it at any time (Settings → Download my data) or erase it (Settings → Delete all my data). Deleting the app also deletes it.

Content updates

The app downloads new lines, journeys & helplines from our server (api.delulubestie.com). That request contains no personal data. Our server keeps no access log of who downloaded what.

AI features (Bestie Plus)

Bestie Plus has four optional features that write a reply around your own words: a reply to your check-in ("Tell my bestie"), a session for a wish of your own, a Time Travel journey shaped around what you wrote, & "Hype me about something specific". They only run when you tap them.

• What is sent: the words you typed for that feature, the mood you picked, your first name if you set one, the Bestie style & pronouns from your settings, & a few recent openings so the reply doesn't repeat itself. For Time Travel, also the journey's own lines. Together with an anonymous app user ID from RevenueCat, so we can check your subscription & keep a fair daily limit.
• Who processes it: our server, & Anthropic, PBC, which writes the reply with its Claude model as our processor. See Anthropic's privacy policy. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
• How long: we do not store your words or the reply. We keep only a count: which feature, whether it worked, how many tokens it used & a one-way code of the anonymous ID, for cost & abuse limits. Anthropic may keep API data for a limited time for safety & abuse monitoring, as described in its policy.
• Before anything is sent: if your words suggest you may be in crisis, the app shows support numbers instead, & nothing is sent to the AI.
• Legal basis: performance of a contract (the Bestie Plus feature you asked for).

Purchases

If you buy Bestie Plus, the payment is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own privacy policies. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase history & basic device information. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Legal basis: performance of a contract (providing the subscription you bought).

Things we don't do

• No advertising & no ad networks.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs in this version.
• No sale or sharing of personal data.
• No AI processing of anything you write, unless you tap one of the Bestie Plus AI features.

The early access list

If you join the list on delulubestie.com, we keep your email address to send you a confirmation & the launch email. You can unsubscribe with the link in every email, & we then stop mailing you.

Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, & to data portability. Because almost everything is stored only on your phone, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. For purchase data, contact us or use Apple's or Google's account tools. You may also complain to your data protection authority, such as the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

Children

Delulu Bestie is not intended for children under [16]. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Safety

Delulu Bestie is emotional support & self-reflection, not therapy or medical care. If you type words that suggest you may be in crisis, the app shows emergency & support numbers for your country. This check happens on your phone first.

Changes

We'll update this policy when the app changes & show the new effective date above.
